New Pre-Arrival Declaration at Tan Son Nhat Airport

Vietnam’s Immigration Department has officially implemented a mandatory pre-arrival information declaration for travelers entering via Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. This administrative update aims to modernize immigration management, reduce terminal congestion, and accelerate the digital transformation of the country’s busiest gateway.

Mandatory Electronic Declaration for Foreign Nationals

The new regulation applies specifically to foreign nationals and overseas Vietnamese entering the country on various visa types. While Vietnamese passport holders and transit passengers remain exempt from this requirement, all other travelers must now submit their personal information electronically before landing in Ho Chi Minh City.

The process is managed through a dedicated official portal at https://prearrival.immigration.gov.vn/. Travelers can complete their data submission online or via a standardized QR code system. Upon successful completion, the system generates a confirmation QR code that must be presented to immigration officers at the airport checkpoints.

Enhancing Operational Efficiency at Tan Son Nhat

The Immigration Department emphasizes that this pre-departure step is essential for reducing processing times at checkpoints. By shifting the data entry process to a digital pre-arrival phase, authorities aim to minimize inspections during peak hours and improve the overall passenger experience.

Travelers are cautioned that failure to complete the declaration in advance may lead to significant delays and longer processing times upon arrival. Consequently, the authorities have called upon airlines and travel agencies to ensure their clients are fully informed of the requirement before departure.

A Shift Toward Digital Immigration Management

This initiative reflects Vietnam’s commitment to improving its border infrastructure. As international travel volumes continue to rise, the integration of pre-arrival data allows for more predictable traffic management and enhanced security. Travelers are reminded to ensure the accuracy of their submitted information to avoid any administrative complications at the port of entry.

For those planning to visit Ho Chi Minh City, completing this digital requirement has become a critical step in the journey, ensuring a more seamless transition from the aircraft to the city.
